Renting a private plane is not as simple as renting a car. You have to be discerning to avoid the many pitfalls and choose the charter solution with the aircraft that really suits your needs. Depending on the size of your group, the destination of your choice, and the price you have set for yourself. Without neglecting three important parameters: reliability, safety and services.
How to rent a private jet?
On the internet, you will find a multitude of private plane rental specialists. Many are the leaders in the air industry, the No. 1s, those who charter the most planes in the world, who have been established for the longest time, who have the most testimonials from grateful customers. A little too many perhaps.
If you need to safely entrust the money for your business or private flight, choose above all a reliable partner, whose headquarters are in France and whose results you can consult on société.com, for more than 20 years for example. In the event of an incident, you will be happy to have a partner who offers you an alternative solution. A company that is too recent, a broker established in a foreign country will not be subject to the same French or European rules and could disappear more easily.

Who travels by private jet?
We all have the “bling-bling” image of show business celebrities, emirs, political figures traveling at great expense, getting off their plane in grand style in front of the media stunned by so much luxury and comfort. And it really does exist. We often talk about Boeing Business Jet (BB Jets) or Airbus Corporate Jet (ACJ) specially configured with all the desirable comfort (bedroom with king size bed, shower, work lounge, 360° seats, cinema room, library, wifi and VIP services, meals and drinks à la carte, large luggage storage, long distance, etc.). The purchase price of these luxury planes, sometimes also called ” head of state aircraft ” – for their ability to transport a complete government on an official visit over long distances – is estimated at between 50 and 60 million euros.
These exceptional business jets can also be rented. For the price, expect to pay between €9,000 and €12,000 per hour of flight, depending on the distance, the type of aircraft and the number of passengers expected.
Governments, ministers, diplomats, travel a lot by private plane for official trips, diplomatic negotiations, inaugurations or partnerships. This is linked to their function, which is accompanied by confidentiality (negotiations and information sharing on the plane). Depending on their status, they will accompany the head of state in the VIP plane of the presidency during official trips (Airbus A330 – 200 VIP, or Boeing 747 for example)
These special aircraft are usually owned by each state and are entrusted to the army. Many countries also have ” heavy jets “, i.e. large business jets with 10 to 16 seats that can make long-haul transatlantic flights.
Some Ministers (or Presidents) will choose this mode of transport for shorter or more confidential trips.
Other members of governments from different countries also rent business jets from listed air brokers when state resources are unavailable, or when they consider that the departure point from another continent makes the mission too expensive.
Business leaders also travel by private jet . Not for pleasure but out of obligation: factory visits, production points, work meetings with their colleagues or clients, contract signings, factory inaugurations, etc. Key employees can benefit from this mode of transport when their presence is imperative in France or abroad, when regular flights are unavailable, or when the meeting place requires choosing an alternative airport not served by a regular line at the desired time. Company specialists or technicians who need to leave urgently to resolve a critical problem on a production line will charter a small private jet or a turboprop plane.
Celebrities, show business personalities, models, entertainment specialists (DJs, film producers or actors, organizers of haute couture shows with their equipment, businessmen, lawyers, buyers, etc.) use business jets because it is the fastest way to travel to the exact destination, quickly, safely, with flexible schedules, and increased confidentiality. Not to mention the advantage of knowing your interlocutors on board personally in times of pandemic such as Covid 19 for example.
The price of renting a private plane, even when it is higher than that of a first class, remains reasonable if we take into account the quality of service offered. And choosing an air broker is not necessarily more expensive since, like a real estate agency, it deals in volume and knows all the reliable airlines dedicated to business travel. It will offer its corporate client the plane adapted to the size of the group.
What type of private jet for your project?
Renting a business jet depends on several criteria:

Exceptional aircraft resulting from a reconfiguration of an airliner. Also called ” head of state aircraft ” (example: Boeing B767, 100 VIP seats instead of 350) or VIP version aircraft directly from the factory (Embraer Lineage 1000, 19 VIP seats or Airbus A319, 44 VIP seats, etc.)
Where are the business jets based? What are your main destinations?
These are necessary questions when chartering a private plane. The home base of an airline, also called FBO “Fixed Base Operator” is the airport where the company manages its fleet of private jets available for rental. The aircraft of owners are entrusted to them for management to make economies of scale when they are not using them. They can also rent them to other potential clients, under a framework contract.
There are many “main” bases in Europe, the United States and around the world. This is where you have the best chance of quickly finding an affordable private jet, because it will often be directly available at its departure base, and therefore without an empty supply flight (Ferry Flight) .
